Leaks and pipes

A leak does damage fast. We track it down, fix it at the source, and check what caused it, from corroded pipe to pressure that’s too high.

What neighbors say

  • “We noticed an increase in water pressure and called Ironwood out. They were very responsive and communication was great. Arrived right on time and diagnosed the problem. Gave great detailed explanation for the work required and a few options to choose what was best for us. Prices were fair and they did great work.”

Questions and answers

What should my water pressure be?

Most plumbing codes call for a pressure regulator when incoming pressure is above 80 psi. A gauge on an outdoor hose bib tells you in a minute. High pressure wears out valves, heaters and supply lines early.

My pipes bang when a faucet shuts off. Is that a problem?

That’s water hammer. It strains joints and valves over time. It can usually be fixed with arrestors or by bringing the pressure down.

Can you find a leak I can’t see?

Yes. A water bill that jumps, a meter that moves with everything off, or a warm or damp spot are all worth a call.
