Garbage disposal repair and installation
A disposal that hums is usually jammed, not dead; one that does nothing at all is often the reset button or the switch. One that leaks is usually done. We work out which it is, and where a new unit is the answer we install it with the drain and trap done properly.

What it's telling you
- Humming but not turning: jammed
- Nothing at all: the reset, the switch or the wiring
- Water under the sink: the seal or the body
- Rattling: something in there that shouldn't be
- Slow draining with the disposal running: the trap or the line beyond it
What we do
- 01
Clear the jam and test the motor before replacing anything
- 02
Check the drain and trap while we're under there
- 03
Install a new unit where the old one is leaking or burned out
- 04
Run water through it and check every joint before we leave
What decides the price
A jam is a short visit. A replacement follows the unit and whatever the drain underneath needs. We give the estimate in person, once we’ve seen the job.
“Excellent work removing the old bath tub and installing the new tub.”

Garbage disposals: questions and answers
My disposal hums but doesn't turn. Is it dead?
Usually not. That's a jam, and it clears with the right tool from underneath. If it's still stuck once it's free to turn, then it's the motor.
What shouldn't go in it?
Grease, coffee grounds, rice and pasta, fibrous peels, and bones. Grease is the one that doesn't cause trouble today. It lines the pipe and causes it later.
