Tub and shower replacement

Swapping a tub for a walk-in shower, or replacing a worn-out tub, is as much about what's behind the wall as the fixture: the valve, the drain and the framing. Done properly it's watertight for decades; done cheaply it leaks into the room next door.

When to call

  • Turning an unused tub into a walk-in shower
  • A tub that's cracked, stained or refinished one too many times
  • A valve that won't hold temperature
  • A remodel where the plumbing has to move
  • Making a bathroom easier to get in and out of

What we do

  1. 01

Take out the old tub or pan and check what's behind it

  2. 02

Set the new unit level and connect the drain properly

  3. 03

Install and test the valve, so the temperature holds

  4. 04

Leave it ready for the finish work, and watertight

What decides the price

The fixture, the drain position, and what's found behind the wall. We tell you what we can see before starting and what we find once it's open. We give the estimate in person, once we’ve seen the job.

Tubs and showers: questions and answers

Can you convert a tub to a walk-in shower?

Yes. The valve and drain move with it, which is the part worth doing properly.

Do you do the tile as well?

We do the plumbing: the unit, the drain and the valve. Tell us what the finish plan is and we'll set it up for whoever is doing that part.
