Questions · Hiring a plumber
What an in-home estimate includes
We come to the house, look at the actual job, and give you the price in person before any work starts. That includes what we found, what the options are, and what each one costs. It is yours to think about. We do not quote plumbing over the phone.

What the visit covers
- Looking at the problem itself, and at what is around it
- Checking the things that change the job, such as access, shutoffs and how it was plumbed before
- Telling you what we found in plain words, not in trade shorthand
- The options, where there is more than one, with the difference between them explained
- The price, given to you before anything is started
Why not over the phone
Because a phone price is a guess dressed up as a number. The same complaint can be a washer or a failed valve, a clog or a line that has lost its shape, a heater part or a tank that is finished.
A number given before anyone has looked either has to be padded to be safe, or it changes once we arrive. Neither is how we want to start. Seeing it first is slower for us and fairer to you.
What we will tell you honestly
- When a repair is the better money than a replacement
- When a replacement is the better money than a repair
- When something can wait, and what to watch for
- When the cause is somewhere other than where the symptom is
- When the job is not one we should be doing

Do I have to decide on the spot?
No. The estimate is yours. Nobody is going to lean on you to sign in the kitchen.
Can you give me a ballpark on the phone?
We would rather not. A range given before anyone has looked is so wide that it helps nobody. Booking a look gets you a real number.
If you need this done
- Water heater installOld unit out, new one sized for your household, connected, tested and left to code. Gas or electric, tank or tankless.
- Drain cleaningSinks, tubs, showers and main lines cleared to the root of the blockage instead of pushed further down the line.
- Water softenersValley water is some of the hardest in the country. A softener removes the minerals that scale fixtures, spot glass and shorten a water heater's life.
- Where we workEvery town and ZIP across the Valley we cover.
